Returns, cancellations and refunds

Last updated 2026-10-21

Summary

  • Cancel: email us within 12 hours of purchase to cancel your order.
  • Misprinted, damaged or wrong book: report it within 30 days of delivery with a photo. We replace the book or refund you.
  • Change of mind: not accepted, because each copy is printed to order.
  • Refunds go to your original payment method.

Audiobooks

Audiobooks are digital, so there is no printing and no postal return. Because an audiobook is digital content, your 14-day right to cancel ends when the download starts, which you ask for at checkout. If an audiobook file is faulty or will not play, email support@nationallibrary.press within 30 days of purchase with your order email and a short description of the problem. We replace the file or refund you. For now, all audiobooks are sold through Gumroad as merchant of record: Gumroad’s terms and refund process apply to those orders instead of the rules above.

Why we print to order

Each book is printed after you place your order. We do not hold printed stock to resell. This is why we cannot accept change-of-mind returns.

Cancelling an order

Email support@nationallibrary.press within 12 hours of purchase, with your order number, and say that you want to cancel. We refund your order to your original payment method.

After 12 hours, printing may already have started, and we may not be able to cancel the order. If that happens, the misprinted, damaged or wrong book rules below still apply.

Misprinted, damaged or wrong books

Email support@nationallibrary.press within 30 days of delivery and include:

  • your order number
  • a clear photo of the book, and of the packaging if it arrived damaged
  • a short description of the problem

We will replace the book or refund you. In most cases we do not ask you to send the book back. A misprint, a damaged book, or a book that is not the one you ordered counts as a fault.

UK customers

Books are printed after you place your order. Your rights under UK consumer law for faulty, damaged or wrong goods are not affected by this policy. If a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase applies to your order, that right is not affected either.

Customers in the United States

Books that are misprinted, damaged or wrong are replaced or refunded under the process above. Change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Your rights under US state law are not affected by this policy.

How refunds are paid

All refunds are paid to the original payment method used at checkout. Payments are handled by Stripe. We confirm the refund by email when we process it.
