Frequently asked questions

Last updated 2026-10-21

Are the audiobooks read by a person?

No. The narration is made by an AI voice (Google Gemini text-to-speech). Each audiobook page says so.

What format are the audiobooks?

Each audiobook is a set of MP3 files in a ZIP file. It plays on any phone or computer.

Which languages are the audiobooks in?

English, French, Spanish and German, as shown on each audiobook’s page.

How do I download an audiobook again?

Use the download link on your order page and in the receipt we emailed you. Each audiobook file can be downloaded up to 10 times within a year of purchase. If you cannot find the link, email support@nationallibrary.press with your order email.

Who sells the audiobooks?

For now, every audiobook is sold through Gumroad, which is the merchant of record for every audiobook order. Gumroad sells the audiobook, handles payment, delivery and sales tax, and its terms, receipt and refund process apply. Later, our own checkout will open for buyers outside the EU. DAHMANI LIMITED, which runs National Library Press, will sell to them and Stripe will process payment. EU buyers will stay on Gumroad.

How are the books made?

Each copy is printed after you place your order, by our UK print partner. We do not hold printed stock, so every order is printed for you.

How long does delivery take?

Printing takes 5 to 7 working days. After dispatch, delivery takes the transit time for your region, which is listed in the table on our shipping page.

Which countries do you ship to?

At launch we ship to the United States and the United Kingdom only. If your country is not offered in the cart, we do not ship there yet.

How will I know my order is confirmed?

After you pay, Stripe emails you a receipt for your order. When your book is dispatched, we send tracking information by email where the carrier provides it.

Are prices in US dollars?

Yes. All prices are in US dollars (USD). DAHMANI LIMITED is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. The total, including shipping, is shown before you pay. See our shipping page for details.

Will I have to pay import duties?

Books are generally duty-free in the United States, but the carrier may charge fees for handling or clearance. Orders to the United Kingdom are shipped within the United Kingdom.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payments are taken through Stripe Checkout. Accepted methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Stripe processes your payment securely. We do not store your card details.

Can I cancel my order?

Yes, within 12 hours of purchase. Email support@nationallibrary.press with your order number and say you want to cancel. After 12 hours, printing may already have started, and we may not be able to cancel. See our returns page.

What if my book arrived damaged, misprinted or the wrong book?

Email us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the problem. We will replace the book or refund you. See our returns page for details.

Can I return a book because I changed my mind?

No. Each copy is printed to order, so we do not accept change-of-mind returns. Your rights under consumer law for faulty, damaged or wrong books are not affected. See our returns page.

What format and language is each book?

Each book page shows the format (paperback or hardcover), trim size, page count, interior (colour or black and white), and language.
